INTRODUCING THE WISH ATL X MITCHELL AND NESS “HOMECOURT” COLLECTION

As the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Season enters its final stretch before the Playoffs, Mitchell & Ness is taking their Homecourt Collection to Atlanta in collaboration with iconic sneaker and streetwear boutique, Wish ATL.  Originally launched in January 2022, Mitchell & Ness’ Homecourt Collection offers NBA team-specific apparel and headwear assortments curated alongside the country’s most beloved and iconic streetwear boutiques.

Kenny Burns, Don Cannon, & Big Tigger

Since its inception in 2004, Wish ATL has set the gold standard for streetwear boutiques and habitually risen the bar as a global trend leader and cultural icon in Atlanta and beyond. Implanted in Atlanta in 1968 after stints in St. Louis, Milwaukee, and Buffalo, the Hawks burst onto the NBA scene and immediately personified the funky, soulful energy of the ’70s.

Paying homage to the Hawks’ rich history, the collection features elements inspired by the ‘player’ aesthetic of the ’70s, including plush velour, bold striping, and metallic gold highlights. The collection also nods to the State of Georgia’s heritage with peach-colored accents accompanied by a rich burgundy reimagination of the Hawks’ primary team red.

Renee Montgomery

Launching on Saturday, 3/12 on www.wishatl.com and in-store at Wish ATL’s Moreland Ave location, the collection includes snapbacks, bucket hats, jerseys, shorts, vintage ringer tees, and a velour warm-up jacket and tear-away pant with prices ranging from $38 – $215 USD.

To capture the collection’s essence, the campaign launch’s photoshoot features WNBA star & Atlanta Dream Owner Renee Montgomery, accredited Music Producer & Executive Don Cannon, Radio DJ Personalities & Hosts Kenny Burns, Big Tigger, and Fly Guy DC, WNBA star Angel McCoughtry, Recording Artist & Activist Killer Mike, Original Fani Founder & Designer Fani, A&R Manager Rachel Jackson, ATATF Founder Kordale Toomer, and Founder of AEBLHOOPS Basketball League & Finish First Marketing Agency Jah Rawlings.

Mami Wata Reinvents Surf Style

#CelebrateBlackOwnedBrands

MAMI WATA SS22

EACH WEEK THIS MONTH, WE’LL BE HIGHLIGHTING ONE OF THE BLACK-OWNED BRANDS THAT WE CARRY AT WISH WHILE EXPANDING ON THE HERITAGE OF THEIR ARTISTIC EXPRESSION.

This week, the spotlight is on Nick Dutton, Peet Pienaar, and Andy Davis’ Cape Town-based clothing brand Mami Wata.

MAMI WATA SS22 – FLOWER DICE SHIRT

Founded by Selema Masekela, Nick Dutton, creative director, and artist Peet Pienaar, and writer Andy Davis in 2015 – the enviably titled Chief Surf Officer, Mami Wata is the first surf label out of Africa that is proudly African.

Their mission is to be a creative force for good in Africa by using sustainable African materials, supporting local organizations, such as Waves for Change — a surf therapy NGO that helps over 1,000 children, and strengthening what brand founders call Afrosurfonomics, a religion of pristine foam and sky-high waves.

“As a kid all the way through working in the surf apparel industry, I never saw any brands showcasing surfing from the perspective of anyone that looked like me,” Selema says. “This is a brand that aims to redefine the surf-culture conversation as a whole, via the largest surfable continent on the planet as its jumping-off point.”

3.PARADIS SS22

EACH WEEK THIS MONTH, WE’LL BE HIGHLIGHTING ONE OF THE BLACK-OWNED BRANDS THAT WE CARRY AT WISH WHILE EXPANDING ON THE HERITAGE OF THEIR ARTISTIC EXPRESSION.

This week, the spotlight is on Emeric Tchatchoua’s Montreal-based clothing brand 3.PARADIS.

3.PARADIS founder Emeric Tchatchoua

Established in 2013, the unintentionally successful Montreal-based Streetwear brand embodies both street fashion and pop culture in their finely crafted clothing pieces. Emeric Tchatchoua, 3.PARADIS Creative Director/ Founder, brings a refreshing aesthetic with his philosophical ideals combined with a modern interpretation of collaged silhouettes and exaggerated utility. This debate allows the relationship between the human race and further ideals to be explored from a unique realistic perspective.

3.PARADIS produces finely crafted clothing pieces influenced by popular culture and street fashion; the darling of both street fashion and high-end fashionistas alike. Their aesthetic could be explained by these three words “disruptive, chic and poetic”.

3.PARADIS SS22 – Freedom Crewneck Sweater

“The more we grow, the more the meaning [of 3.Paradis] is deeper than what it was supposed to be at the beginning. ‘3’ is the perfect equilibrium between the mind, the body, and the soul, and ‘Paradis’ [paradise in French] is an ideal that we’re trying to give to the people. Make them enjoy what they buy and enjoy the product—bring them to paradis,” says the brand’s founder.

3.PARADIS SS22 – SERENA TURQUOISE VARSITY JACKET

For 3.PARADIS’ SS22 collection, creative director Emeric Tchatchoua mused on the idea of spiritual renaissance, self-awareness, and soul searching as a means of inner rebirth. Specifically, Tchatchoua aims to bring about this rebirth through the deconstruction of old ideas and by uniting the past, present, and future, which will remain a focal theme for the brand’s forthcoming collections.

Patta: A Family to The Core

#CelebrateBlackOwnedBrands

Patta SS22 – Lucky Charm Shirt Jacket

EACH WEEK THIS MONTH, WE’LL BE HIGHLIGHTING ONE OF THE BLACK-OWNED BRANDS THAT WE CARRY AT WISH WHILE EXPANDING ON THE HERITAGE OF THEIR ARTISTIC EXPRESSION.

This week, the spotlight is on Edson Sabajo and Guillaume ‘Gee’ Schmidt’s Amsterdam-based clothing brand Patta.

Patta founders Guillaume ‘Gee’ Schmidt & Edson Sabajo

Established in 2016 by Edson Sabajo and Guillaume ‘ Gee’ Schmidt, the Dutch label encourages inspiring collaborations, cultural crossover, and unconventional forms. Both were instrumental in the Dutch hip-hop and nightlife community in the ’90s and early 2000’s – Edson as a DJ and Gee as an MC and event host. The music-minded pair also had a shared obsession with hunting internationally for sneakers and records. They soon found themselves funneling a steady supply of gear from their travels, back home to their community in Amsterdam, which grew naturally into a business partnership. The brand is named after a slang term for “shoe” – a nod to the founders’ Surinamese heritage.

Their motto ‘Out of love and necessity rather than profit or novelty’ simplifies the brand’s ethos. With their community at the forefront of inspiration, they’ve always been motivated to showcase the talent surrounding them. Today, Patta is one of few internationally revered, black-owned streetwear brands and consists of a clothing line, Patta Soundsystem, Patta Running Team, and, most recently, the Patta Foundation focusing on youth cultural education.

Though Patta derived from humble beginnings, the brand has a hefty amount of projects under their belt from sneaker collaborations with household names like Nike, New Balance, Reebok, and Jordan, to collaborating with brands like Stussy and other Black-Owned Netherland-based fashion brands like Daily Paper and Filling Pieces, creating a local summer school, and partnering with Black Panther artist Emory Douglas, or dropping an EP with Conway The Machine and Alchemist. You might know Patta for clothes, but just making them has never been the mission.

Patta’s SS22 Collection aims to share ideas from Team Patta’s respective personal experiences, environments, and culture. Diving into intimate archives to create from a place of heritage – drawing inspiration directly from lived moments. The diversity within the collection is based on elements from their divergent youths.

Black History Month at Wish

#CelebrateBlackOwnedBrands

Each week this month, we’ll be highlighting one of the Black-Owned Brands that we carry at Wish while expanding on the heritage of their artistic expression.

This week, the spotlight is on Russell Westbrook’s LA-based clothing brand: Honor The Gift.

Created by a kid from the Inner City of Los Angeles. A brand founded on self-belief and dedication to never stop working towards your greatness no matter the hardship.

Established by the Lakers Point Guard in 2017, Honor The Gift is built out of respect for where he came from and where anyone can take themselves.

A body of work with a focus on quality, purpose, and storytelling. These core concepts are applied to the construction of the product all the way to the physical spaces they live in.

The brand’s latest collection, Inner City Love Volume II, represents the heart of his childhood nostalgia. Inspired by the soundtrack that shaped his household growing up from soulful records playing in the background to style spanning from the ’60s to ’70s; this collection is a story about family and love.

Ludaday 2019 Recap

This year we were official partners for this 14th Annual LudaDay Weekend. As part of our partnership we worked with Ludacris to design the official t-shirt for the special weekend, even adorning him with a special 1 of 1 “camo” edition of the iconic t-shirt. Since 2005, rapper, actor, and humanitarian Christopher “Ludacris” Bridges has dedicated Labor Day weekend to social service and responsibility. The weekend brings together the Atlanta community and Luda’s celebrity colleagues. The weekend consists of a charity bowling event, day party, golf tournament, celebrity basketball game and culminates with a “Top Golf Takeover.

“LudaDay was recognized as an official city-wide event by Mayor Kasim Reed in 2011. Money raised over the weekend will go towards The Ludacris Foundation and other charities offering relief of those affected by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. Be part of the special weekend and purchase a commemorative 2019 LudaDay Weekend Shirt.

Adidas Consortium x Sneakerboy x Wish ATL Climacool Restock

_V9A0652

Coming off the successful drop on May13th, we will have a small restock of the Climacool’s. This iconic, early 21st century runner is currently enjoying a real renaissance. This time it is made translucent and, as its counterpart, luminescent. Similar to the PureBOOST, a new Primeknit fiber processing is applied that results in a geometricpatterned upper. As well as an outstanding product, it is a great example of adidas returning to an archive model and giving a type of contemporary rework impossible at the time of the Climacool’s initial conception.

Sneakerboy’s stores are all situated on the Australian Coast so the retailer looked to the sea for inspiration and began exploring aesthetic references to the box jellyfish, the world’s deadliest jellyfish. Its translucency and luminescence were the starting point for the collaborative design process. Even though native to the Australian waters, Wish – by chance – also knew of this particular jellyfish: the Georgia Aquarium is one of only four institutions in the world which houses the specimen. A great coincidence and exceptional link between these two partners.

Wish ATL x Adidas Consortium x Sneakerboy Event Recap

untitled-9026

This past Saturday Atlanta gathered at Wish ATL for the launch of the Adidas Consortium x Wish x Sneakerboy collaboration. The store was transformed into an under the sea experience – the sneaker room was a glow in the dark ocean oasis and upstairs, a jellyfish installation greeted everyone as they made their way into the store. We also had DJ Don Cannon bring the sound, creating an awesome vibe. As a token of our appreciation, the first 100 people who bought sneakers were gifted with a special edition glow in the dark sneaker pin that mimicked our collab shoe which was super dope. Thank you to everyone who came out and check out the photos below!

Wish Black History Capsule 2017 “I WISH”

Love. Peace. Strength. Hope. Kindness. These are just a few of the words heard when we asked our customers what they wish for in the world today.

This month we felt it was extremely important to engage in the conversation about the uncertainty in our world today. We asked our customers what they were feeling and how it has affected them personally. It is important to talk about the issues we are facing today and make sure we come together to create the change we want to see.

The words on our shirt represent what we want to see. It is the change we want to create. It is what we wish for….

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of our shirts will go towards The Center for Civil and Human Rights. https://www.civilandhumanrights.org/

A very special thank you to all of our customers who participated in our video. Your words were truly inspiring and we are extremely proud to share your voice with the world.

Wish for Kicks

Wish ATL is launching a new charity initiative this month called #wishforkicks. We are collecting donations all month to turn those dollars into sneakers to give away to the teens from Chris180.org. Chris180 serves youth ages 6-17 in foster care who have emotional challenges stemming from trauma, as well as 18-24 year olds that are “aging out” of the foster care system and need help to get on their feet. Our goal is to provide a pair of sneakers from Wish for each child & teen in the organization for the Holidays.

Wish ATL has teamed up with a number of celebrities to help launch the program. Their generous donations helped us jump start this terrific campaign

A very special thanks to Kenny Burns, Josh Childress, Jermaine Dupri, David Fizdale, Jarrett Jack, K. Camp, Lloyd, Tyronn Lue, Lotto 7, Rayven Justice, Renaldo Nehemiah, Sammie, Shannon Sharpe, Josh Smith, Steve Smith, Greg Street, and T.I.
