Wish ATL Block Party

Young, Fly, & Flashy.

The hottest sneaker drop in the city deserves the hottest block party of the year and our World Series Champs just gave us, even more, to celebrate.

Pull up to the block party to cop a pair of the So So Def x adidas Trae Young 1 “Atlanta, a special iteration of Trae Young’s signature silhouette that has been reinterpreted by the Atlanta-based record label, (including a special gift with purchase), and prove you can ball like Trae during our mobile-hoop contest for a chance to win some fly prizes.

While you’re there, make sure to visit downstairs at the store to check out the So So Def “History of Hits” room.

Look out for special appearances by the Atlanta Hawks, Jermaine Dupri, & more with sounds provided by DJ Champagne Trap.

When: November 5th, 2021 from 3-7 PM

Where: Wish ATL parking lot (by the Outkast Mural) | 447 Moreland Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307

Food will be available to purchase via Atlanta’s-own Slutty Vegan food truck.

Parking will be unavailable in the Wish ATL parking lot and parking in the Little 5 Points area will be very limited, so we strongly encourage ridesharing.

As for COVID-19 guidelines, the event will be outside, but we’re still encouraging social distancing and inside the store will remain the same, such as mask-required for entry and maintaining a capacity. We also ask for people to wear masks when purchasing food.

Taking inspiration from the So So Def billboard that was up near the Atlanta airport, the sneaker uses the same colors from the billboard. Black and electric yellow in a chevron pattern make up the mesh upper with bright orange seen on the minimal lace loops. Trae’s “TY” logo is seen on the tongue pull-tab and his signature is seen on the heel and 3 Stripes branding is seen on the Lighstrike midsole in black. BOOST is used in the heel for extra impact protection and bright orange is used again on the outsole which features herringbone and radial patterns.

Wish ATL x Nike Give Fresh Air

GIVE FRESH AIR IS A COMMUNITY INITIATIVE THAT UNIFIES THE SNEAKER COMMUNITY AROUND A SHARED PASSION TO IGNITE CHANGE.

THROUGHOUT MARCH 2021, WE COLLABORATED WITH NIKE TO INSPIRE COMMUNITIES TO GIVE “AIR” THROUGH SHOE DONATIONS THAT SUPPORT LOCAL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS.

With the positive outreach from our community, Wish was able to collect new and gently worn shoes that we donated to the Chris 180 Organization for those in need.

We asked our donors to participate in our Women’s History Month initiative by writing a message of empowerment to the future generation of women. Each message was saved and released via balloon at the end of the month as a visual representation of “giving fresh air” and showing support for the women in the community.

The journey women face can be tough, but we honor their resilience, grace, and their fight to push through no matter what barriers they might face. Above all, the uphill battle is what makes women, women!

Nike’s First Ever Hands-Free Shoe: The Go FlyEase

When presented with a preview of the Nike Go Flyease, the first-ever completely hands-free sneaker, offering convenience without sacrificing performance or style, we wanted to partner with an organization that would utilize this adaptive new technology in their daily life.

Good innovation turns the complex into the simple. Nike Go FlyEase works because the tensioner band and bi-stable hinge hold the shoe in a steady open position.

We were given an amazing opportunity to team up with BlazeSports, a non-profit organization whose mission is to change the lives of children and veterans with physical disabilities through adaptive sports and recreation. With this partnership, honorable athletes got to experience a new adaptivity designed to add ease to any day-to-day routine.

We are honored to be a part of this experience assisting these amazing athletes to blaze a trail and achieve their goals.

A very special thank you to Nike for this partnership and BlazeSports for the outstanding work you are doing in our community and beyond.

Coming Soon: Denim Tears x Converse

The African American flag is an artistic evolution of Marcus Garvey’s red, black and green Pan-African flag. Near Jamaica Queens, where Tremaine Emory aka Denim Tears grew up, these colors cover the Liberty Rock monument, symbolizing the civil rights, group identity, and experience of African Americans. For Emory, the flag represents a distinct moment of personal discovery and a belief that Black artists, their points of view, their experience and their creative expression should be celebrated. On this limited-edition Chuck 70, Tremaine Emory translates the African American flag to an American classic.

We Are The OnesThe Future Is Yours. Vote.Gen Z Voters

To execute Emory’s vision and celebrate an America that includes and champions the voices, identities and ambitions of young Black creatives, Converse and Denim Tears have enlisted For Freedoms with Hank Willis Thomas, an artist collective that models and aims to increase civic joy, discourse and direct action – to release a new campaign dubbed “The Future is Yours. More than 35 years after its debut, the Air Jordan 1 still stands as a timeless and versatile design- but that doesn’t mean it’s done evolving. Coming Soon: Converse x A Cold Wall*

Converse & Samuel Ross‘s A-COLD-WALL* have collaborated for a technical capsule collection of footwear and apparel. This collection was initially previewed in June 2019 during ACW’s SS20 runway during London Fashion Week, displaying reconstructions of the Chuck Taylor All-Star Lugged and ERX.

According to Converse, the collection’s ethos was based around one simple question: “how does a collaboration relay intent?” Samuel Ross’ intent was clearly to further ACW’s signature look, asymmetrical detailing, compelling material choices and a muted color palette that insures focus on the design rather than the color palate.

The Chuck Taylor All Star Lugged is a weatherized version of the classic Chuck, and Ross’s take on it toes the line between sneaker and boot with a thick rubber outsole and toe bumper plus overlays that rise up onto the woven ripstop upper. An inner bootie provides warmth and lockdown, while ACW and Converse branding is placed on each piece. Elsewhere, the ERX looks to its basketball heritage with a full patinated suede build, a large collar strap and a stripped-back lacing system. This simple-yet-effective upper rests atop an icy blue midsole to finalize the style. Rounding off the offerings are two tracksuits, one with a traditional basketball cut and one with more asymmetrical detailing that’s sure to please ACW purists.

New Brand: Keiser Clark

Keiser Clark—the Los Angeles-based ready-to-wear label founded in late 2017 by Marc Keiser and Andrew Clark—holds a distinct approach to clothing design and fabrication.

Its aesthetic is fueled by a gritty nocturnal glamour, but it goes beyond dive-bar leathers and warehouse rave jeans. The brand’s allure is in its wearable intent, cut and whittled with a pocketknife’s edge. As Keiser says, the emergent identity of Keiser Clark consists of “a range of pieces with varying levels of intensity, boldness and aggressiveness.” In this, there is a deeply personal sentiment of past remembrances and anecdotes; beneath the label’s visual edge, a human instinct flourishes, promoting connection and community.

The origin story of the brand is rooted in an experimental sensibility, with Keiser and Clark creating one-off leather jackets in Los Angeles starting in 2016. Keiser was finishing law school at the time (he’d pass the bar exam, but then dedicated himself to his burgeoning fashion line). Slowly, the two began lending these jackets to friends, who in turn would post the garments on social media. The pieces caught on; stylists started requesting the jackets, and the interest pushed Keiser and Clark to spend 2017 formulating their concept. In 2018, they presented their first full collection—Autumn/Winter 2019—at Paris Fashion Week. From that lineup came a powerful sense of self; it etched the grid-work for Keiser Clark’s premise (and promise) going forward.

Three style legends. One shoe. It’s an iconic collaboration.

New Brand: Children of Discordance

This week we welcome Tokyo’s own, Children of Discordance to Wish ATL. Children of Discordance was established by Hideaki Shikama in 2011. The up-cycled pieces that he’s become famous for are inspired by recollections of fashion and music from the 90s to the present. Shikama has updated and up-cycled items from his personal collection of archives and vintage pieces, sourced worldwide. His usage of vintage materials and deadstock approaches sustainability in a way that doesn’t feel forced. The environment isn’t his sole concern; focusing on respect for craftsmen, creators, and producers while designing ethically. This has been achieved by working beyond the concept of fair trade for production that creates the sophisticated one off products expressing the attitude of “DISCORDANCE”.
