As a proud member of the Little Five Points Community, we are always looking for ways to support our neighborhood. For this reason, we collaborated with the Los Angeles based Joyrich to produce a capsule that shines light on Little Five Points and Atlanta. Dubbed the “Rich Five Points” capsule, this collection does a great job of encapsulating the essence of both brands while baring the branding of each. Just for the release, Joyrich came all the way out from the West Coast to help us put on a pop-up shop in honor of the release. A good time to view and shop the capsule, the in-store release event that took place during the day was followed by a celebratory party at Club Halo at night. Our “A Night With Jordan Brand” event with Senior Global Design Director Jason Mayden and Director of Energy Footwear Gemo Wong that took place this past Friday night was not only a special night for us here at Wish, but also the city of Atlanta, and all of our supporters. Attendees got more than what they bargained for, as the night was not only about sneakers and fashion, but also about career goals, character building, and life lessons from the Jordan Brand Senior Directors. However, the night consisted of more than just presentations from Mayden and Wong, who after their talks were able to have one-on-one conversations with guests and even critique several creative portfolios. Perhaps the most fascinating part of the night came as ten raffle winners were selected to preview future Jordan Brand models and a select two had the priveledge of designing their own custom pair of Nike i.D. sneakers with Mayden and Wong. With drinks sponsored by Mountain Dew, the night also saw a one-of-a-kind limited sneaker collection by Tennesee native Joseph Privitte, a special appearance by rapper Killer Mike, and a custom pair of Wish Air Jordan 3 Retro Doernbechers.

It’s hard to go wrong, when you’re in good company. Last weekend, we aligned with Atlanta-based restaurant and bar, The Sound Table to invite Hong Kong Japanese Yakitori collective, Yardbird HK to Atlanta. For the event, Yardbird’s own Matt Abergel (Head Chef) and Lindsay Jang were in attendance and Abergel was cooking a special, one-night only Yakitori menu. The night featured a multi-course menu that took attendees through a far-east journey through Chicken Thigh and Chicken Breast yakitori, KFC (Korean Friend Cauliflower), Yardbird’s signature Caesar Salad, Friend Chicken and plenty more.
In addition to the menu and the custom cocktails that were being pushed out by the bar, a late night was also hosted by Pat Mahony of DFA, LCD Soundsystem and Eug (Public Release, FACE).
For the night, Wish worked with The Sound Table to curate a special iteration of Yardbird HK’s Evan Hecox-designed chicken logo T-shirts. Boasting an oversized, vinyl printed white chiken on the back, each tee is finished out with an understated trio of logos at the feet and a custom, one-night only stamp on the interior neck.

Atlanta’ very own, The SoundTable is pleased to welcome Chef Matt Abergel and Lindsay Jang of the venerable Yardbird restaurant in Hong Kong for a single night of exceptional food, custom cocktails and heavy, heavy music.
Chef Abergel, who cut his teeth at NYC’s legendary Masa Sushi (the first sushi bar ever to have garnered 3 Michelin stars) opened Yardbird with his partner Lindsay Jang back in the summer of 2011 to great approbation. His focus on simple, detailed dishes along with the freshly minimal look of the place soon had throngs of the hip and the hungry queuing up down the block.
Earlier this year, Yardbird was named one of the top 50 restaurants in Asia. Now, on the heels of a feature dinner at NYC’s Food and Wine Festival, the Yardbird crew will be collaborating with us for a singular dining experience ‘neath the cover of October skies.
Abergel will be creating a menu based around the freshest local pastured poultry, and bar manager Navarro Carr will be working out a focused, delicious selection of cocktails designed specifically to pair with the meal. There will be two seatings available, at 7:00pm & 9:00pm, and seating will be strictly limited. Please contact us at yardbird@thesoundtable.com to reserve your seat today. As an added enticement, all diners will receive complimentary admission to the late-night show featuring dj sets from Pat Mahony (DFA, LCD Soundsystem) and Dj Eug (Public Works, SF).

Taking place yesterday, MMG rapper Wale celebrated the release of his upcoming album “The Gifted” with an in-store Meet n’ Greet at Wish. The store was packed as fans, shoppers, and even Trinidad James gathered to hangout, shake hands, or get a signature or picture taken with Ralph himself. Wale, a well known sneaker collector, also took the chance to sign a few sneakers among promotional posters for the upcoming project. Last Friday, we released our highly anticipated KAWS x Wish tee to a packed house. KAWS, Brian Donnelly, was in our building signing autographs on everything from his Hennessy collaborative bottle to dollar bills. Overall, the event was a huge success. We are happy so many of you had the opportunity to meet the internationally respected artist. We hope you had as much fun attending as we did throwing this event. We still have a couple t-shirts left here at the shop, so stop by and grab one or call 404.880.0402 Ext.2 to place a phone order. Also, make sure you stop by the High Museum of Art to check out his newest exhibit which kicks off February 16th.

Teaming up with The Hundreds, Wish took inspiration from the Atlanta-based public transit, MARTA, for their Player colab snapback. Incorporating the three staple colors from the MARTA logo, Wish outlined The Hundreds block font in yellow with “Atlanta” stitched above to give it local appeal. The bill of the snapback is set in a light blue hue that compliments their “s” logo on the side panel. Multi-colored eyelets offer a nice contrast while maintaining the color way aesthetics. The Hundreds x Wish Player Snapback will be available on July 7, 2011, and will be for sale starting at midnight in our online shop. It will be for sale in-store at noon on July 7. Retail is $32, Quantities are extremely limited.

In honor of the Jordan 5 Retro release tomorrow (and freedom), we’ll be releasing a limited run of what we’re calling the Wish “Independence Day” tee. Inspired by the iconic J’s, the shirt features the white speckled shark teeth that is so recognizable from the 5 outsole. Retailing for $28, the tee will be releasing in-store on the day of the Jordan release, July 2. It will be available in-store starting at open, 12:00 noon est and at midnight July 2 in our online shop.

To say we’re excited about this project is a huge understatement. We’ve teamed up with the best name in streetwear, New York based Mishka and locally owned and operated bike shop, No Brakes to put together a few tee’s, a snapback and a dope event for this hot summer. Shown above are the two colors in the t-shirts that you can expect to see with the slogan, “ATL Get Pitted”, a nod to the gears of a fixie and the Peach State. Additionally Wish and No Brakes worked on crafting a 1 of 1 custom designed Fixed Gear bike. The tee’s and hats can be picked up at either location and the fixed gear will be on display at Wish. For those of you that want to get your hands on a bike, you can place a custom order to have one made specifically for you through No Brakes!
___ WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR THE EVENT ___
– An Alleycat Bike Race Will be taking place at 7:00PM on July 24th beginning at No Brakes Bike Shop and will end @ Wish. It will involve multiple stops with a competition at each stop. The challenges will range from kicking a fieldgoal to chugging a full beer.
