Wish played host to athletes and sneakerheads alike on Friday night, as we hosted a special VIP event for the opening of The Rise of Sneaker Culture at the High Museum. Guests were given access to the exhibit to check out over 155 sneakers from the archives of Adidas, Converse, Nike and of course, Jordan. A real sneakerhead’s delight as they can walk thru the collections, read the history, and see the shoes evolve from 1800s until present day. The exhibit runs from now until August 14. Make it a must to check it out!
Check out our album from our event. Stay tuned for a video coming soon.
It’s hard to go wrong, when you’re in good company. Last weekend, we aligned with Atlanta-based restaurant and bar, The Sound Table to invite Hong Kong Japanese Yakitori collective, Yardbird HK to Atlanta. For the event, Yardbird’s own Matt Abergel (Head Chef) and Lindsay Jang were in attendance and Abergel was cooking a special, one-night only Yakitori menu. The night featured a multi-course menu that took attendees through a far-east journey through Chicken Thigh and Chicken Breast yakitori, KFC (Korean Friend Cauliflower), Yardbird’s signature Caesar Salad, Friend Chicken and plenty more.
In addition to the menu and the custom cocktails that were being pushed out by the bar, a late night was also hosted by Pat Mahony of DFA, LCD Soundsystem and Eug (Public Release, FACE).
For the night, Wish worked with The Sound Table to curate a special iteration of Yardbird HK’s Evan Hecox-designed chicken logo T-shirts. Boasting an oversized, vinyl printed white chiken on the back, each tee is finished out with an understated trio of logos at the feet and a custom, one-night only stamp on the interior neck.
Purchase the T-Shirts here in extremely limited stock. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
Atlanta’ very own, The SoundTable is pleased to welcome Chef Matt Abergel and Lindsay Jang of the venerable Yardbird restaurant in Hong Kong for a single night of exceptional food, custom cocktails and heavy, heavy music.
Chef Abergel, who cut his teeth at NYC’s legendary Masa Sushi (the first sushi bar ever to have garnered 3 Michelin stars) opened Yardbird with his partner Lindsay Jang back in the summer of 2011 to great approbation. His focus on simple, detailed dishes along with the freshly minimal look of the place soon had throngs of the hip and the hungry queuing up down the block.
Earlier this year, Yardbird was named one of the top 50 restaurants in Asia. Now, on the heels of a feature dinner at NYC’s Food and Wine Festival, the Yardbird crew will be collaborating with us for a singular dining experience ‘neath the cover of October skies.
Abergel will be creating a menu based around the freshest local pastured poultry, and bar manager Navarro Carr will be working out a focused, delicious selection of cocktails designed specifically to pair with the meal. There will be two seatings available, at 7:00pm & 9:00pm, and seating will be strictly limited. Please contact us at yardbird@thesoundtable.com to reserve your seat today. As an added enticement, all diners will receive complimentary admission to the late-night show featuring dj sets from Pat Mahony (DFA, LCD Soundsystem) and Dj Eug (Public Works, SF).
Wish has joined forces with the culinary duo to curate a special collaborative item for the one night engagement. Stay tuned here and via our social media channels for further information about the special project.
Finishing up his string of in-stores to support the latest mixtape, “10PC MILD,” Trinidad James stopped through the shop yesterday for the final stop of his meet and greet appearances. Bringing along a slew of Gold Gang affiliates and donning the latest Fall/Winter 2013 Supreme, Trinidad James held down the crowd for over three hours while taking pictures, shaking hands and signing autographs for those in attendance. In addition to handing out copies of the latest mixtape, James also invited his tour DJ, Genesis to get on the tables to chop and splice up a plethora of Atlanta tracks including many of James’ mixtape exclusives.
