Air Jordan 1 Mid – White/White-Cool Grey

The Air Jordan 1 is a model that seems to withstand the test of time. It seems that regardless of what colorway, what retro and what precise silhouette (Mid or High) the model is just a mainstay. For Spring/Summer 2013, Air Jordan rolls out a super clean and minimal execution of the Air Jordan 1 Mid in White/White and Cool Grey. As expected the ultra-minimalist shoe sees tonal white throughout the entire upper, midsole, outsole and interior lining with a subtle hit of Cool Grey seen along the upper tongue. White stitching throughout the shoe rounds things out. The shoes are priced at $105 USD and are now available in-store through our Moreland Ave. location.

Track of the Day: Kanye West – New Slaves (Acapella at Design Miami/Basel)

It would be an understated to say that Kanye West has been making waves leading up to his anticipated June 18th drop of Yeezus. Be it off the strength of the religiously controversial title, or the socially controversial “New Slaces” lyricism or the widely discussed global marketing projection initiative, Mr. West seems to be a role. The latest footage of Ye is captured during an unscheduled session for his European fans while touching down at Design Miami/Basel in Switzerland. Yeezy hits the track “New Slaves” direct over the mic acapella style for all those who were in attendance. It looks like #yeezyseason is really beginning to heat up this summer – stay tuned for the official album drop next week.

Coming Soon: Reebok Pump Omni Lite OG “Dee Brown” | 6/14

“Some legends bring the crowd to their feet, but the legendary Dee Brown brought the crowd to his. Literally, in the 1991 Slam Dunk Contest, Dee paused to pump up his Reebok Pump Omni shoes, and ultimately made the most iconic dunk of all time – the “No Look” dunk. On one of the greatest moments in the game, Dee says, “Being a late entry for the Slam Dunk contest that year, I knew I had to get the crowd on my side, to get them excited. What I did next is history. To this day I’m identified with one shoe and one shoe only – the Reebok Pump.” On June 14th, Reebok Classic brings back Dee Brown’s iconic Pump Omni OG and will be available at Wish in-store and online for $115 USD.

WISH TRAVELS: Mike Kelley’s City 0000 @ David Zwirner Gallery

American artist Mike Kelley is the type of creative mind who has the ability to create works that seem to withstand the test of time. Unlike some whose works are based upon an era-specific trend or a fleeting fad, Kelley’s work – perhaps by virtue of its inherently humanistic approach – possesses a timeless value to it. Often pulling upon found objects to comprise his sculptures, one of Kelley’s most celebrated pieces is the one pictured here – City 0000. Currently on display at a group exhibition at New York’s David Zwirner Gallery, City 0000 poses a bright and bold contrast to the stark white walls and smooth concrete of the open space.

City 0000 depicts the fictitious city of Kandor, the birthplace of Superman on the planet Krypton. Cast in a bold, chromatic series of colors, City 0000 is made up from a translucent resin and lit by interior LED lights and the skyline is comprised of a glowing grouping of obelisks, towers, and pillars. Holding a particularly personal and special place within Kelley’s mind, Kandor reckons to his childhood in which – according to DC Comics – Kandor was a world that was miniaturized and stolen before Krypton was destroyed. For attendees of the group exhibition, City 0000 holds an even deeper value in light of Kelley’s recent death, bringing to light the melancholic juxtaposition of Kelley’s childhood imagination on display and the finite reality of the human life.
