During what has been a great season for the Nike retro releases, we see another release from the wildly successful Barkley Posite model. The Barkley Posite Max “Metallic/Gamma Blue” sees mainly metallic silver throughout the body juxtaposed by a black nubuck upper. The Gamma Blue specked splatter marks spread across the Black upper lacing area and sole gives these shoes a distinctive look. For 2013, Don C of Just Don presents “The Finals” snakeskin strapback hats. Playing off the energy and momentum, building throughout this year’s NBA season and post-seaon, the caps are a testament to the sports-centric Just Don label. While utilizing the brand’s trademark snakeskin at the brim, the crown features an embroidered “The Finals” script. An additional embroidered script is found on the left side, commemorating the 1991 NBA Finals. The hats will be releasing on June 1, 2013.

Streetwear is undeniably largely rooted in the reappropriation of pre-established branding elements. From the success of SSUR’s COMME des FUCKDOWN and the commotion surrounding the Supreme, Married to the Mob and Barbara Kruger fiasco, it seems that – for better or for worse – the industry feeds off much of it. Burgeoining Atlanta-based brand, PieceGods has been picking up steam recently off the strength of its subtle, yet well-executed flip of the classic GAP blue and white motif. The brand applies the iconic blue and white insignia in a recognizable 1:1 patch form that is embellished across the front panel of an all-black snapback hat as well as a tiger camouflage and all-tan 5-panel camp cap. With the singular patchwork across the front, minimal “PIECEGODS” in all caps on the reverse side completed each hat.

A long time favorite brand of ours, Norse Projects, unveils its 2013 spring/summer collection. The Danish retailer chooses to go with their usual nuetral color palette to cover a range of five panels, pants, tees, and button downs. From the wildly successful Lunar Flyknit Chukka debuts to the infusion of Flywire technologies across their entire product line, the latest heavyweight is in the form of the Free Inneva Woven. For its headwear assortment this year, the brand maintaind consistency with its sports-centric roots as well as its iconic logo-driven aesthetic. Perhaps part of Nike’s design success – both technical and aesthetic – is by virtue of each individual elements ability to be seamlessly integrated alongside the other for a plethora of fusion footwear options. One of the stronger basketball silhouettes that has been able to balance this line is the Nike Air Max Lebron X Low. Starting at the base, the pair is situated atop a Air Max 360 bubble that is treated in the reconigzably bold “Volt Force” hue. Moving upward, the shoe sees a speckled midsole and a predominantly blue upper that is interspersed with hints of Nike’s Pure Platinum and Sport Turwoise hue. Nike’s reverse Swoosh is situated along the upper heel in white with Sport Turqoise lining that complements the matching Flywire and threaded laces.
