Earlier this summer, Jeff Staple traveled down here to Atlanta for a special talk at the High Museum of Art and an exclusive interview with hometown favorite B.O.B. hosted here at Wish. The rapper/musician has been at the top of various music charts since 2008 and continues to create cross-genre music, which can be seen in his new mixtape titled “No Genre Part 2.” Jeff and B.O.B. sit down to talk about his beginnings selling snacks to mainstream recognition and the importance of making mistakes.
Last week we teamed up with adidas Originals to celebrate the release of our SL Loop Runner “Independent Currency” shoe. Set to sounds from DJ Don Cannon, our Moreland Avenue location was transformed with full-sized adidas window displays and real $2 bills in the floor. With a sold-out RSVP list and a line out the door, the guests who arrived early were given a chance to buy the shoes before anyone else and received a free tee with purchase. Quenching the thirst of the attendees, a full bar was provided featuring beverages by D’usse and Dos Equis. Along with an animated photo booth by Smilebooth and an appearance by the $2 Bill Man himself, Steven Reisman, the store was filled with all of the support the city had to offer. Take a look at the images from the event below:
Coming off a strong collaboration with Coca Cola, the Los Angeles brand who was founded by Tom Hirota in 2007 return with its latest pieces just right for the summer time. Using their core identity within the various day-to-day elements, the Angel Rich Floral Tee sees a mesh material with “Rich Fashion Advisory” tag on the bottom left of the tee and as well as the shorts.
Continuing the strong summer here in Atlanta, we’ve teamed up with adidas Originals for a footwear collaboration. Strongly influenced by the “2” Dollar bill, the collaboration is set to drop on July 4th and stay tuned for more info coming soon.
This past week, we had the opportunity to host Jeff Staple for an evening at the High Museum of Art as well as an exclusive “1-2-1 w/ jeffstaple” interview with B.o.B. Bridging the gap between streetwear culture and the world of fine art, over 150 attendees got the chance to experience an inspiring talk from Jeff in which he spoke on his own personal journey and the concept of impossible. A select few were able to take part in a unique portfolio review session functioning as a quasi-workshop where Jeff counseled budding entreprenuers on the ins and outs of the industry after in depth analysis of their portfolios.
The following day, Jeff Staple held his popular “1-2-1 w/ jeffstaple” interview series with Atlanta’s own B.o.B here at Wish. The two talked about B.o.B’s rise in the industry as well as his next steps in front of a small live audience. Take a look at more images from the past week below, and be on the lookout for footage as well.
Yesterday, we had the amazing opportunity to host the one and only Big Boi as he released his collaborative pieces with streetwear brands SSUR and CLOT. An Outkast fan’s dream, Big Boi was present in full effect to pose for pictures, autograph everything from classic Stankonia vinyls to large ATL flags, and promote his collab items. Take a look below at some images from the event:
It was a packed house as people from all around Atlanta piled into Wish for their chance to get to meet the one and only Travis Scott. Fans had a lot to take in as La Flame enthusiastically posed for pictures, signed sneakers, shirts, faces, and paused to dance to any song that he liked. Customers also had the chance to purchase exclusive Travis Scott merch from his store which made a stop in town last night at the Masquerade. Take a look at some images from the in-store that sums up the event.
As a proud member of the Little Five Points Community, we are always looking for ways to support our neighborhood. For this reason, we collaborated with the Los Angeles based Joyrich to produce a capsule that shines light on Little Five Points and Atlanta. Dubbed the “Rich Five Points” capsule, this collection does a great job of encapsulating the essence of both brands while baring the branding of each. Just for the release, Joyrich came all the way out from the West Coast to help us put on a pop-up shop in honor of the release. A good time to view and shop the capsule, the in-store release event that took place during the day was followed by a celebratory party at Club Halo at night. Take a look at images from yesterday’s release events below:
Our “A Night With Jordan Brand” event with Senior Global Design Director Jason Mayden and Director of Energy Footwear Gemo Wong that took place this past Friday night was not only a special night for us here at Wish, but also the city of Atlanta, and all of our supporters. Attendees got more than what they bargained for, as the night was not only about sneakers and fashion, but also about career goals, character building, and life lessons from the Jordan Brand Senior Directors. However, the night consisted of more than just presentations from Mayden and Wong, who after their talks were able to have one-on-one conversations with guests and even critique several creative portfolios. Perhaps the most fascinating part of the night came as ten raffle winners were selected to preview future Jordan Brand models and a select two had the priveledge of designing their own custom pair of Nike i.D. sneakers with Mayden and Wong. With drinks sponsored by Mountain Dew, the night also saw a one-of-a-kind limited sneaker collection by Tennesee native Joseph Privitte, a special appearance by rapper Killer Mike, and a custom pair of Wish Air Jordan 3 Retro Doernbechers.
If you weren’t able to attend, or just want to refresh your memory, take a look at images from the memorable night below:
Part 2 // For one night only Jordan Brand’s own Senior Global Design Director, Jason Mayden and Director of Energy Footwear, Gemo Wong will be hosting a workshop and interactive product and design forum at Wish. Stay tuned. #NWJB
It’s hard to go wrong, when you’re in good company. Last weekend, we aligned with Atlanta-based restaurant and bar, The Sound Table to invite Hong Kong Japanese Yakitori collective, Yardbird HK to Atlanta. For the event, Yardbird’s own Matt Abergel (Head Chef) and Lindsay Jang were in attendance and Abergel was cooking a special, one-night only Yakitori menu. The night featured a multi-course menu that took attendees through a far-east journey through Chicken Thigh and Chicken Breast yakitori, KFC (Korean Friend Cauliflower), Yardbird’s signature Caesar Salad, Friend Chicken and plenty more.
In addition to the menu and the custom cocktails that were being pushed out by the bar, a late night was also hosted by Pat Mahony of DFA, LCD Soundsystem and Eug (Public Release, FACE).
For the night, Wish worked with The Sound Table to curate a special iteration of Yardbird HK’s Evan Hecox-designed chicken logo T-shirts. Boasting an oversized, vinyl printed white chiken on the back, each tee is finished out with an understated trio of logos at the feet and a custom, one-night only stamp on the interior neck.
Purchase the T-Shirts here in extremely limited stock. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
Atlanta’ very own, The SoundTable is pleased to welcome Chef Matt Abergel and Lindsay Jang of the venerable Yardbird restaurant in Hong Kong for a single night of exceptional food, custom cocktails and heavy, heavy music.
Chef Abergel, who cut his teeth at NYC’s legendary Masa Sushi (the first sushi bar ever to have garnered 3 Michelin stars) opened Yardbird with his partner Lindsay Jang back in the summer of 2011 to great approbation. His focus on simple, detailed dishes along with the freshly minimal look of the place soon had throngs of the hip and the hungry queuing up down the block.
Earlier this year, Yardbird was named one of the top 50 restaurants in Asia. Now, on the heels of a feature dinner at NYC’s Food and Wine Festival, the Yardbird crew will be collaborating with us for a singular dining experience ‘neath the cover of October skies.
Abergel will be creating a menu based around the freshest local pastured poultry, and bar manager Navarro Carr will be working out a focused, delicious selection of cocktails designed specifically to pair with the meal. There will be two seatings available, at 7:00pm & 9:00pm, and seating will be strictly limited. Please contact us at email@example.com to reserve your seat today. As an added enticement, all diners will receive complimentary admission to the late-night show featuring dj sets from Pat Mahony (DFA, LCD Soundsystem) and Dj Eug (Public Works, SF).
Wish has joined forces with the culinary duo to curate a special collaborative item for the one night engagement. Stay tuned here and via our social media channels for further information about the special project.
