Japanese menswear retailer monkey time joined forces with Asics to drop a very dramatic version of the Gel Lyte V in black and white. The film noir inspired version of the classic runner features the same color palette of the dramatic mystery and suspense films popular in the 1940s and ’50s: black, white, and grey. The Gel Lyte V is presented in a full premium leather upper, with the majority of the sneaker in white, backed with black at the heel and a speckled midsole. Germany’s Solebox has joined forces with Puma to release two special iterations of the XS850 silhouette titled the “Adventurer” pack. Featuring a light blue “Angel Falls” version of the sneaker, as well as a black and Angel Falls two-tone variation. The sneakers are constructed from suede, nubuck and neoprene, and feature contrasting splatter detailing at the heel. Solebox branding at the heel and insole complete the look. Perth’s sneaker retail and design powerhouse, Highs & Lows reunite with ASICS, this time working on the Gel Lyte V. Drawing inspirations from military color combination and Australian’s most revered war heroes were actually medics. Weary Dunlop and John Simpson Kirkpatrick are ANZAC legends, and they saved countless lives with their clever treatment techniques and bravery. Featuring black garment leather on the MEDIC upper, in concert with perforated olive suede, while hot hits of red and white shout out the medical cross. 3M flexes across the Tiger stripes and a tonal splatter print on the neoprene tongue recalls army netting. Glow-in-the-dark soles finish ‘em off, making sure these sneaks are equipped with safeness in equal portion.

Ewing Athletics continues to retro previous models by recalling its popular 1992 Concept Hi sneakers for a 2015 spring release. The brand is set to reissue both the 33 Hi “1985 Draft Lottery 30th Anniversary” & The 33 Hi “Triple White” and an additional Rogue. The white leather upper is meant to evoke memory of the white envelopes that the NBA used to pick drafts in the past, while the blue “1985″ embroidery on the heel pays tribute to the very year the retired NBA Hall of Famer was drafted as the number one overall pick for the New York Knicks, while the “Triple White” sports an Off-white hints at the collar and ankle strap add a sense of luxury to this pair. What resulted was the 1990 split-tongued retro runner being featured in a premium suede construction full of micro perforations, tonal greys, wooden lace eyelets, and a contrasting deep red toe box. The past three decades have effectively been dominated by Jordan Brand and its aforementioned foundational silhouette. The Air Jordan 1 “Pinnacle” – which originally debuted in February during NBA All-Star Weekend – finally released this past weekend at the Jordan Brand Flight 23 Las Vegas store.
