Inspired by the zodiac sign of the Gemini twins, this new take on the Gel Lyte V features a tonal deep blue upper and suede leather. Each shoe reverses the placement of the suede and leather for reversed textures. Vans Taka Hayashi Fall 2014 New Arrivals

Taka Hayashi’s indelible mark on Classic silhouettes and tireless effort to challenge conventions of sneaker designs can be felt in every piece he touches. For his latest Vault by Vans release, the renowned designer and artist presents two capsules that truly epitomize his footwear craftsmanship across a selection of iconic Vans styles. The dual offering introduces a high-end take on the Mid Skool alongside huarache-inspired renditions of the Era. Offered in “Honey” colorway, Hayashi’s deluxe mid-top showcases intricate detailing across the range with diamond-embossed quarter panels, accent stitched ankle counters, herringbone-molded toe bumper and pressed midsole. Influenced by traditional huarache-crafting techniques, the TH Era Huarache LX is presented in a duo set. The Bordo editions of the Era Huarache combine dark leather uppers with wool accents at the midfoot section of the low-top. The Mustang silhouette exhibit a softer appearance, hued in light tones and fashioned in premier pig suede and Italian woven textiles. Stylized perforations, laser-etched accents, rawhide laces and metal eyelets complete the Huarache-inspired aesthetic of the Era.

Having successfully created a basketball rendition of the Huarache, Hatfield and Avar set out to create a cross-training shoe as well. The upper utilized a similar exoskeleton-innersleeve combination—with one addition. Recognizing the need for superior lockdown during resistance training and aerobic activities, a mesh strap was added, giving birth to boundary-smashing performance footwear.
