NEIGHBORHOOD has often found a welcome canvas in a wide assortment of adidas Original pieces. For the Spring/Summer 2014, the celebrated Japanese street label re-aligns with adidas Originals and Undefeated. Together, the three reworked the footwear brand’s Micropacer and Official Mid ’80s. Featuring simple and clean black aesthetic, leather is seen throughout the Micropacer while suede is used on the Mid ’80s. Be on the lookout for this collaboration dropping soon at Wish.

adidas Originals reaches into the vault to pull out yet another retro for the Spring 2014 season. The adidas EQT Key Trainer first hit the scene in 1996 on the foot of #1 NFL draft pick Keyshawn Johnson whose influences are seen in the clever key hangtag on the shoe. As a part of adidas’s “EQT” and “Feet You Wear” ranges, the pair sees a white, black and “Hunter Green” color combination with the FYW contoured outsole to support the natural shape of the foot. Prints on everything is the name of the game with the newest offerings fro the ongoing partnership between Jeremy Scott and adidas Originals. The latest Instinct Hi and the Prime Skin sneaker from the duo features an all over print. An all leopard print , offset with an all black sole is seen on the Instinct Hi. The Prime Skin follows a flower aesthetic with black and yellow silhouette.

While previous collections looked to basketball and hiking for inspiration, this latest collection from Opening Ceremony and adidas Originals draws from the world of baseball. The baseball-inspired pieces stick predominantly to a classic color combination of red, white, and blue and includes striped button-down shirts, baseball jerseys, a varsity jacket, and classic sweatshirts and sweatpants. In addition to the apparel, the range also includes accessories and footwear featuring stitching elements more commonly seen on baseballs and baseball gloves.

The comeback of Dikembe Mutombo’s signature adidas shoe rolls over into 2014, with the retro ’90s silhouette coming in a new Running White and Blue colorway. The fresh design features a white leather base accented with hits of blue at the quarter panel, heel and outsole. In addition to Motombo’s 55 uniform number, there’s the signature shield logo on the tongue and geometric print along the side and interior, both giving the nod to Dikembe’s African heritage. Having already launched several eye-catching releases in the recent past, adidas Originals by Jeremy Scott is back with a slightly more conservative colorway for its Instinct high-top silhouette. Featuring a predominantly white leather upper with special details such as perforated holes at the mid-foot branding, ankle pad and toe box, this sneaker combines stylish details with quality build. Of course this would not be a Jeremy Scott sneaker without a bold element and in this instance, center stage is reserved for the extended tongue which sees the Union Jack emblazoned across it. Underneath lies a white rubber outsole with adidas Originals branding at the heel.

Established in 2001, Japanese fashion visionary Yohji Yamamoto came together with adidas to create something that had never been seen before. Born out of the desire to make sportswear elegant and chic, what resulted of the collaboration was iconic brand, Y-3. The ‘Y’ stands for Yohji Yamamoto, the ‘3’ represents adidas’ three signature stripes and the ‘-‘ signifies the bond between the two.  

For 2014 Spring, the duo produces yet another classic line. Consisting of tees, button-down shirts, shorts, and pants, this collection pushes sportswear to to the limit with its utilization of unique and premium materials. The line also sees a nice range of footwear which compliments the look and feel of the apparel.

While some fusions have gone very wrong through the years, the trend of blurring the lines between wedge/heel and sneaker has – generally speaking – been done very well. Featuring a recognizeable, enlarged rear platform section, this particular pair is mocked up in a True Blue colorway. The iconic Top Ten Hi was the premier basketball shoe of its time. First released in the ’70s, the sleek silhoutte makes its return for Spring ’14. A wavy cut and padded tounge keep it OG, while White/Navy-Red color blocking remain Americana. While the majority of the makeup is leather, suede toe trim still proves a standout as does the famed ‘Top Ten’ logo. If you missed out on the Attitude Hi Running, these might be a good option for you.

The three stripes have officially unveiled a look at the Attitude Hi, a sneaker most notable for its run in the ’80s as Patrick Ewing’s former signature shoe. For the Holiday season, we’re getting a special gift from powerhouses adidas Consortium and Sneaker Freaker. Featuring two nice colorways applied to the durable Torsion Integral S silhouette from adidas, the upper of this vintage running shoe is made from a combination of mesh with microseude and leather overlays. The minty green colorway was designed by Woody, founder of Sneaker Freaker and is an homage to the magazine’s unofficial color scheme and his love for the fresh and timeless color. The second model, with its color combination of Bliss, Tech Beige, and Iron, mimics some of the original adidas Torsion designs. Get ready for this solid release hitting the shelves at Wish soon.

Coming Soon: The Run-DMC x Keith Haring x adidas Originals “Christmas in Hollis” Superstar 80s

In 1987, influential hip-hop group RUN-D.M.C. released “Christmas in Hollis” as the first single for A Very Special Christmas compilation albums with cover art work by Keith Harring. Adidas Originals will be releasing a special edition “Christmas in Hollis” superstar 80’s for the holidays, Featuring a simple black textile upper with suede accents such as zigzag-cut stripes and collar trim as well as a red leather tongue patch (which features a recreation of Harring’s artwork) and branded insole. First released in 1993 for 4 time NBA defensive player of the year Dikembe Mutombo, this adidas Originals basketball shoe is back in the game. adidas presents the iconic ’90s silhouette in a new black/white colorway. The upper is a combination of black nubuck and cloth pattern panels and features Mutombo’s iconic shield design logo on the tongue and his number “55” on the ankle.
