Just in time for the Spring season approaching, Vans is back with their classic OG Sk8-Hi silhouette. Rounding off with the “Monkey” theme, the shoe features in two different colorway. Bringing suede and canvas to the table, the former is seen in deep blue and set against an off-white upper, as the midsole takes on the same color. Leather is also entered into the equation, while orange is throughout the side stripe branding.

Vans Classics Sk8-Hi “Year of the Horse” Pack

Vans Classics brings a treat with a special three-piece capsule collection in celebration of the Chinese Zodiac Year of the Horse. The “Year of the Horse” Sk8-Hi sees a lavish faux horse hair upper with suede overlays in three nice colors – chilli pepper red, cherry blossom pink, navy, and black. The sneaker is peppered with an array of noteworthy details such as a tapered tan-colored leather heel counter that extends to the topline, matching tan waxed laces, and a special Year of the Horse label sewed onto the tongue and stamped onto the insert. The elaborate upper rests atop a clean and familiar white rubber outsole with a subtle touch of detail at the tip of the waffle sole in the form of a horse shoe. Spring 2014 brings us a nice new shipment of Vans Era models from its California Collection. Utilizing high quality materials and unique patterns that we are accustomed to seeing from Vans, this trio of releases stands out for its use of orange pig suede along with Cheetah and Camo print. The Vans Era 59 CA Pig Suede Orange Rust features a pig suede build treated with Scotchgard to be water resistant. Putting a modern twist on trending patterns, Vans also includes the Era CA Ombre Dyed Cheetah and Camo. The dyeing process is done by hand and creates a slight density fade over each pair. The premium material palette showcases brushed twill uppers, classic silver eyelets, waxed round laces and leather hang flag branding.

Just in time for Holiday 2013, Vault by Vans continues its long-established partnership with designer, Taka Hayashi, this time introducing the TV 008 LX silhouette. Building upon the traditional English dress shoe model, the pair is mocked up in a luxe suede upper resting atop a genuine Vibram Cristy outsole with welt stitch down securing the pairing. The shoe comes in “Dark Navy” model with perforated leather detailing, tonal paneling, and accented heel pulls and laces.

Vans 2013 Fall/Winter New Arrivals

For the upcoming Fall/Winter season, Vans is dropping off some solid new arrivals. This range brings us a Vans Era, Authentic, and two Sk8-Hi models. The Vans Authentic features a “Cali Tribe” all-over print while the Era contrastingly receives a Dress Blue motif, split between suede and canvas material. Storied English department store Liberty London collaborates to bring us the Liberty x Vans Sk8-Hi boasting panels reminiscent of stained glass in combination with blue suede and red leather detailing while the opposing Sk8-Hi model sees a Dark Olive colorway with “Inca” covering the side panels, locked in by bright orange leather detailing.

Taka Hayashi x Vans Vault 2013 Fall/Winter Footwear Collection

Continuing the very successful series of collaborations between Vans Vault and Taka Hayashi, the two entities get together again to create some pieces for the upcoming Fall/Winter season. This time, the two designers decided to take on both a TH Court Hi LX and TH Half Cab LX model. For the Court Hi model, they applied a tropical skull and parrot pattern to the side panels, adding hairy suede on the toebox, tongue, and heel. For the re-working of Steve Caballero‘s classic signature Half Cab LX model, Hayashi and Vans Vault apply batik-inspired prints throughout along with perforated paneling and custom embroidery to premium materials and revamped branding.

Vans seems to consistently come correct. From bold, all-over print patterns and loud silhouettes, to understated and more sophisticated executions, the mainstay 66 label is well versed in all aspects of its footwear. For Spring/Summer 2013, the California Collection sees an extensions of a more subdued, “Chambray Polka Dot” Era CA iteration. As the title implies, the pair sees a mostly chambray toe panel and mid-panel that is juxtaposed with complementary polka dot patterning throughout.

Vans Van Doren range has always been about reaching deep into the archive and history of the celebrated 1966 brand and allow those nostalgic designs influence modern day. For Spring/Summer 2013, Vans reaches way back to a previous era in which the brand collaborated with the iconic company, Disney. Pulling upon old designs and a former footwear project, Disney and Vans aligned yet again this season to resurrect a series of iconic Disney characters on the uppers of classic Vans models. The latest arrival sees a trio of drops including two Vans Authentic silhouettes as well as a Sk8-Hi execution. The characters include Winnie the Pooh, Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.

The augmented, puffed ankle model has gained a reputation for both skateboarders and sneakerheads alike. For Spring/Summer 2013, Vans introduces a new “Camo Suiting” option. Vans 2013 Spring/Summer “True Blue Inca”

Every summer, Vans takes strides to re-introduce its staple silhouettes in a variety of season-appropriate colorways, patterns and materials. Having experimented with a similar Inca iteration a few seaons ago for its Vault tier, Vans today brings forward a Sk8-Hi player amidst its classic lineup. Bearing the bold motif along the upper quilted side panels, the shoe is mocked up in a buttery “True Blue” suede that envelopes both the stitched toebox as well as the rear heel, lace vamps and tongue. Hits of “Inca” orange also play their role throughout the design seeing placement along the tongue tag, footbed and the iconic Old Skool side stripe. Further augmenting the premium execution of the shoe, black leather lines the interior of the shoe. Those in the market can expect an affordable $65 USD price tag.
