Paying homage to his late Aunt Pearl, who passed away in the year 2000 due to lung cancer, Kevin Durant releases his fifth signature shoe dedicated to her. Nike plans on donating all proceeds from the sneaker to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund that was founded in 2007. The sneaker features a complete floral upper made up of pink, black, and purple. Completing the sneaker is the traditional “Think Pink” logo on the heel. Look for KD’s latest tribute to his Aunt Pearl to release this Monday, February 22nd.
The Brooklyn Bridge was an architectural marvel when it was completed in 1883. Its steel-wire suspension system was both functionally forward-looking and visually arresting. The KD 7, Durant’s seventh signature shoe, embodies a similar hybridization with its Hyperposite heel and responsive Zoom Air cushioning. It is light and tight, performance optimized in a clean aesthetic for stability and flexibility.
Nike Basketball introduces a new take on the Oklahoma City Thunder home color scheme for the latest iteration of the KD VI. This all new Kevin Durant signature model rocks a graphic-printed pure platinum upper and Swoosh logos in “Night Factor” blue to match the laces. Volt adds some energy over the collar lining and Flywire, while a soft blue hue finishes them off over the midsole below.
For All-Star Weekend, Nike Basketball salutes the unique flavor of New Orleans with the 2014 “NOLA Gumbo League” Collection, featuring the Lebron 11, KD VI, Lil Penny Posite, and Air Up ’14. The Lebron XI, dubbed the “Gator King,” sees graphic textures throughout the shoe inspired by gators, often a symbol of protection in New Orleans culture. Invisible to the naked eye, hand-drawn patterns come to life as the Hyperposite bucket of the shoe glows in the dark. Following this up is the KD VI “Illusion” showcases hand-drawn patterns on the upper emulating Durant’s fluidity on the court. A glow-in-the-dark outsole also represents the spark of KD’s game. Contrasting the glow in the dark look, the Lil Penny Posite features black posite panelling and red accenting and a glow in the dark outsole. Other accenting details include a voodoo print on the panelling, featuring lobster engravings. Rounding out the NOLA themed Nike basketball collection is the Nike Air Up ’14, resembling fresh-out-of-the-pot crawdads with a crustacean-red upper complete with water droplets and a steamy graphic. NBA superstar and Nike repper Kevin Durant is keeping it going with the ongoing streak of KD VI releases this season. Now from the collection comes the KD VI “Peanut Butter & Jelly.” This rendition features an all Laser Orange upper to resemble the peanut butter, which has a sparkled Purple Swoosh to signify jelly that covers the toe and side panel of the sneaker. A Purple lining is also incorporated into the shoe further driving home the peanut butter jelly motif. Black laces, logo, and front portion of the outsole finish up the unique design of the shoe. The Nike NSW Lifestyle segment takes a swing at remixing two of Nike’s most popular basketball models: the KD VI and the Lebron X. The KD VI Lifestyle NSW shoe, wrapped in polka-dot spotted grey, is a special release in honor of Kevin Durant’s 25th birthday. The boot-like version of the basketball silhouette features an exaggerated black KD-embroidered tongue with hot pink sides, D-ring eyelets, and a bright light blue midsole. On the more casual side of things, the Lebron X NSW Lifestyle features a mainly Black upper sitting atop a white vulcanized midsole. Perhaps the most interesting feature of the shoe is the herringbone pattern featured on the Tweed material found on the tongue and inside of the sneaker.
