Vans x Vivienne Westwood

Vans and British fashion house Vivienne Westwood have collaborated for the “Anglomania” collection, highlighting individualism. The Anglomania Collection features a Sk8-Hi Platform, Slip-On, Style 53, & an Old Skool.

The Sk8-Hi Platform draws inspiration from Vivienne Westwood’s Pirate boot, boasting key design details from the boot including a tan vegetable dye buckled strap. The Slip-On showcases Vans’ signature checkerboard pattern, layered with the Westwood’s DESTROY graphic. Larger scale checks are then featured diagonally on the vamp. The reintroduced Style 53 is a loafer-style slip-on with a suede upper, black lugged outsole, and a Vivienne Westwood multicolored metal orb. The Old Skool and makes use of the Vivienne Westwood Orb and Lightning Bolt print in oxblood suede and canvas with contrasting mustard stitching and a gum sole.

Vans Vault x Taka Hayashi Summer 2016 Collection

Designer Taka Hayashi pays homage to Vans’ design history by reimagining the retro runner, the Serio, under premium label, Vault by Vans. Inspired by the original silhouette introduced in the early ‘80s, Taka Hayashi’s unique vision blends the vintage Vans runner with a buffalo boot form to create the TH Buffalo Boot LX. Also included in this collection are a couple of Sk8 Nomad’s, which are essentially a reimagined version of the popular Sk8 High with a perforated side panel and wrapped in a premium leather upper. To complete the collection, we see a clean Slip Nomad LX, a Slip-On created with the same color make up of one of the Sk8 Nomad’s. Use of premium materials are very apparent throughout the entire collection, making these timeless classics. Look for these to drop this Saturday, May 21st.

This past Friday evening, sneakerheads, creatives, and everyone in-between gathered at Studio No. 7 in Atlanta to help celebrate the launch of Wish’s collaboration pack with Vault by Vans, the Fine Wine & Olives pack. The event, sponsored by both Heinken and Hercules, was a full house and hit amongst those in attendance. Sounds were provided by Two-9’s own DJ Osh Kosh, and helped to create a lively environment. Also a part of the entertainment was the OMG Booth, in which people could take pictures with the whole squad in front of a Wish backdrop. Two industry heavyweights collide for a collaboration perfect for colder weather. The pieces, ranging from a heavy outwear jacket to different sneaker silhouettes, come equipped with features to help cope with rougher weather. Amongst the features are gusseted tongues, reversed waffle lug outsoles, heat retention technology and water repellency. The silhouette’s included in the pack are Vans classic SK8 Hi and a fleece lined chukka. For the jacket, Vans puts their own spin on the North Face’ Nuptse jacket with its checkered design. Look for this sweet collaboration to drop this Saturday, October 31st.

Vans and WTAPS return for round 2 of their collaboration with this strong set of sneakers featuring some of Vans most loved silhouette’s. Two years since the first collaboration, this set comes in premium materials made up of leathers, suedes, and canvas. The old school looking 36 LX comes in a luxurious monochromatic blue suede, while the Era’s come in colorblocked tones consisting of blue, red, and green paired with a white canvas. The complete the set, the SK8 Hi comes in an all black and black/grey colorways. Look for the entire set to hit the online shop this Saturday, September 12th.

This spring season, Hayashi reissues his deluxe silhouette, the TH Priz Hi LX. Inspired by the build of the Vans Prison Issue, the TH Priz Hi LX is an elevated extension of the beloved low-top. Created by Taka five years ago, the split-paneled TH Priz Hi LX returns after a long hiatus in a refined off-white canvas and brown leather form complete with perforated heel panels, embroidered ankle straps and tonal waxed laces.

So-called “near deer” leather is a piece of trade vernacular for one thing, and one thing only: premium full grain leather as supple and smooth as they come. A dark, rich navy tone on vamp, eyestay, tongue, heel, and the front portion of a split side panel offers an intriguing contrast to the boldly striped, washed textile that runs from side panel up the ankle and into the lining. Taka Hayashi’s indelible mark on Classic silhouettes and tireless effort to challenge conventions of sneaker designs can be felt in every piece he touches. For his latest Vault by Vans release, the renowned designer and artist presents two capsules that truly epitomize his footwear craftsmanship across a selection of iconic Vans styles. The dual offering introduces a high-end take on the Mid Skool alongside huarache-inspired renditions of the Era. Offered in “Honey” colorway, Hayashi’s deluxe mid-top showcases intricate detailing across the range with diamond-embossed quarter panels, accent stitched ankle counters, herringbone-molded toe bumper and pressed midsole. Influenced by traditional huarache-crafting techniques, the TH Era Huarache LX is presented in a duo set. The Bordo editions of the Era Huarache combine dark leather uppers with wool accents at the midfoot section of the low-top. The Mustang silhouette exhibit a softer appearance, hued in light tones and fashioned in premier pig suede and Italian woven textiles. Stylized perforations, laser-etched accents, rawhide laces and metal eyelets complete the Huarache-inspired aesthetic of the Era.
