Facetasm–the brand by Japanese designer Hiromichi Ochiai, breaks with the high/low dichotomy by mix-matching street culture and luxury and putting a focus on gender fluid fashion with bold print and fabric associations in urban-chic looks, that were sublimated by traditional Japanese motifs.

Amsterdam based label Daily Paper returns with visuals of its latest men’s offering. The look book portrays the brand’s tradition of presenting elevated menswear staples while adding its own unique aesthetic. For the artworks used on patches and prints Daily Paper looked in to the history of Burkina Faso for inspiration. The Fall/Winter collection maintains the brand’s hallmark patterns and Identity remains an important factor at Daily Paper that always finds a way to incorporate the founder’s Dutch and African heritage in its collections. For the artworks used on patches and prints Daily Paper looked in to the history of Burkina Faso for inspiration. Most of the prints and artworks are inspired from military emblems worn and used in Burkina Faso under the rule of one of Africa’s most revolutionary leaders Thomas Sankara. Thomas Sankara was viewed by supporters as a charismatic and iconic figure of revolution and is commonly referred to as “Africa’s Che Guevara”. For this collection a variety of different fabrics has been utilized such as lambs wool, woven cotton and nylon to provide a mix of formal and casual looks. Vintage military inspired jackets are matched with piquet polo’s, while a selection of cotton twill bottoms complete the looks of this season.

En Noir grew its roots at a Parisian factory notorious for cranking out the collections of seasoned fashion world veterans such as Balmain and Chanel, as well as newer names to the game, including Kanye West’s women’s line. For Garcia, the direction of En Noir was always about the utility of the clothing. Many of the brands in his closet rule the fashion runways, but are difficult to pull off on the street. Garcia hoped to take advantage of his Parisian connect, focusing on the fit, silhouette and the quality of the garment, while designing a more practical luxury item that could be worn without any consideration of season. The result of his labor was “Monochromatic Minimalism,” En Noir’s first collection.
