Last weekend we teamed up with Los Angeles based conceptual artist Matthew Senna, known for his Air Jordan sculptures for a one night only event showcasing his first ever gold Air Jordan 1. His work conveys the cultural importance imbued within everyday objects, as well as their ability to symbolize a striving for greatness. With a sold-out RSVP list and a line out the door, the guest who arrived early were given a chance to purchase 85 Wish x Matt Senna Gold Logo T-shirt made for the event. Earlier this summer, Jeff Staple traveled down here to Atlanta for a special talk at the High Museum of Art and an exclusive interview with hometown favorite B.O.B. hosted here at Wish. The rapper/musician has been at the top of various music charts since 2008 and continues to create cross-genre music, which can be seen in his new mixtape titled “No Genre Part 2.” Jeff and B.O.B. sit down to talk about his beginnings selling snacks to mainstream recognition and the importance of making mistakes.
Last week we teamed up with adidas Originals to celebrate the release of our SL Loop Runner “Independent Currency” shoe. Set to sounds from DJ Don Cannon, our Moreland Avenue location was transformed with full-sized adidas window displays and real $2 bills in the floor. With a sold-out RSVP list and a line out the door, the guests who arrived early were given a chance to buy the shoes before anyone else and received a free tee with purchase. Quenching the thirst of the attendees, a full bar was provided featuring beverages by D’usse and Dos Equis. Along with an animated photo booth by Smilebooth and an appearance by the $2 Bill Man himself, Steven Reisman, the store was filled with all of the support the city had to offer.
