Wish at ComplexCon Chicago

#WishTravels To Chicago For ComplexCon Summer ’19

This past weekend the Wish team embarked on a trip to the “Windy City” to experience a midsummer celebration of fashion, art, and music brought to us by ComplexCon. This edition of ComplexCon was special because this is the first time that they branched out of their usual Long Beach location, in hopes of drawing a more universal crowd. Chicago itself has produced many of the industry’s leading hype generators such as Kanye West, Virgil Abloh, Jerry Lorenzo, Don C and even the GOAT himself, Michael Jordan.

Chicago played host to thousands of eager enthusiasts of all ages ready to get their hands on some exclusive items and fully immerse themselves in all things “cool.” There was a huge representation of Takashi Murikami’s work, along with a number of exclusive pop-up shops. Puma and Reebok definitely made their presence felt with two great activations keeping the masses engaged. Chinatown Market had a great showing as well.

Some notable releases during the event included the Nike Atmos Air Max 1 “Animal 3.0” pack, The Eric Emanuel “Iverson’s”, and the surprise drop of the yellow Nike FOG 1’s. There were a number of good panels featuring industry heavyweights Jon Wexler, Steve Stoute, Joe La Puma, PJ Tucker, T.I. and Killer Mike.

The most special part of the weekend was the attention that ComplexCon shed on Chicago and its up-and-coming culture. Bobby Hundreds and creator of “The Chi”, Lena Waithe, showcased their varsity inspired collection, Chicago stalwart Joe Freshgoods also made an impressive showing with 3 of his brands being represented almost front and center to festival goers. There were also a number of awesome visual artists from the Chicago area, dope upstart brands and local Chicago eateries on tap.

If you’re in the Chicago area, definitely swing by the Museum of Contemporary Art and check out the Virgil Abloh “Figures of Speech” exhibition before it ends September 22, 2019.

Overall, ComplexCon Chicago was a great time. We are looking forward to Long Beach.
